More 1/16 rc WPL trucks
« on: January 01, 2018, 09:45:20 AM »
Happy new year to one and all.  ;D ;D ;D ;D
I was checking out evil bay and came across a new 1/16 trucks from WPL, the mob that make the 1/16 bobber duece.
It is the same running gear but with a different body PLUS you can get them in diy kit form as well as assembled models. The kit form is a couple of dollars cheaper and they come in two colours ,green and blue. I think being able to get these trucks un-assembled is a great idea as it enables you to detail them then assemble them.
They cost $48 with free postage from this ebay seller, greatoutdoor (187139).
Check out the photos

My guess is that these replicate Chinese trucks, perhaps both a military and civilian version.  I wish the "sorta M35" were sold as a kit, too.

Gday Ed
These new trucks are russian gaz 66's.
When I googled wpl b-24 shops that sell spare parts for these trucks were listed so if you just want to convert your truck it will be cost effective as you do not have to buy the whole truck  ;D ;D ;D ;D eg. to have a six wheel drive m35 you will just have to buy another two rear diffs and a set of wheels for about $20 for the lot, and no left over parts that you may not have any use for.
Trucks on the battlefield  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)
happy tankin an truckin

Nice find biff, they're popping up everywhere....you can't whinge for less than $50

Peeps on FB are doing all sorts with them though none of the 6x6s are true 6x6 drive, the rear axle are dummies as it's very difficult (apparently) to get the transmission linked up properly, binding issues etc, but still they are getting good looking results.

I stand corrected I found this one on YT he's done a good job

;D ;D ;DThanks for that info Damo. the set up for the 6x6 is how i thought the axle set up would look like. The builder ,Gary Hoff is a great builder and his videos are excellent sources of how to do it  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Only prob I see is that engaging the rear axle the drive shaft sets the wheels to far apart.

Gday Damo  ;D
I have ordered a couple of extra rear diffs so that I can see if they can be modified by moving the cog on the axle shaft and straighten the angle of the drive shafts. The rear diffs are $6 so if I break it the cost is not going to send me broke lololol. :o
Another alternative is ti replace the single motor with a couple of n20 geared motors (as seen on youtube)
