Thanks for the kind words guys, but of late it's been like a gluten free diet  - 'cept Cent free, rather than gluten.
Have just got some more bolts, so that may change....

An issue with finishing the Horstmann units – the socket head screws I’ve been using are pretty good, but in this one area – 87727-087729-1– the head is too big & obstructs travel, so ordered these button head screws  (M2.5 X 8mm )– 87731-287733-3–
These replace the screw at the top of the swing arm, where the PZ III shocks are attached – 87735-487737-5– this means they no longer obstruct travel – 87739-6 – the downside is that rather than needing a single size Allen key to work on the suspension, you now need 2 different sizes.

Fully re-equipped unit – 87741-7 – mounted to unit – 87743-8 – swung up into final position – 87745-9 -  3 units done – 87747-10 –

There was one unit where the inner & outer skins were so close together that the swing arms could not be attached – performed a Hot Water Rescue to fix that – 87749-0 – using boiling water & the T handle screw driver – the thick part being the exact sized space.

All 6 units done, just A missing it’s coil spring – 87751-187753-2–
Dry fitting to the hull – 87755-387757-4– can’t help feeling a little disappointed that they’re not bolt on, like the originals.

More done, the weekend before last I ran into a problem, these – 88908-0 – the internal adapter rings to allow for the sloped side walls – they go on the end of the double roller mounts – 88910-188912-2– however, with the use of the hex standoffs, they’re a larger diameter than the centre hole.

In theory it’s an easy fix, just drill it out to the right size….. the problem became apparent when I applied the drill – could not hold the ring in place, so it turned with the drill, tried various vices & pliers, but it would just twist out. Tried melting a larger hole, but ran out of gas for my burner.

What I eventually came up with was to glue the rings in place – 88914-388916-488918-588920-688922-7– wait 24 hrs and then drill – worked like a charm.
Bolted the rollers in place, tightening them with my palm ratchet – 88924-888926-9–

You’ll recall I was a bit disappointed that the Horstmann bogies are not bolt on like the originals?
Thought about that & experimented – 88928-0 – used M2.5 X 6mm button heads, though in that first installation the bolts were a bit too close to the bottom of the hull.
Thinking about this, wondered if I could do similar with the Final Drive cases – 88930-188932-288934-3.

Finished installing the 2nd & 3rd bogeys, bolts a bit higher up on these – 88936-488938-5–

Still the other side to do.

Worked on the other side (LHS), closer pic of the bolt holes, higher up the bogey – 88948-0 – this means the bolts are sufficiently above the floor to allow nuts to be added – 88950-188952-2– whereas that earlier one – 88954-3 – the bolts were too close to the floor – 88956-4 – need to re do this
Bolted on the final drive case – 88958-5 – whole side done – 88960-688962-788964-8– the tank now sits level – 88966-988968-10–
Something that became evident while working on the bogies – need to bevel the edges of the bogies & the bump stops, as they tend to catch the swing arm bolts – 88970-11 – I’ve also countersunk the holes in the bogeys to which the swing arms attach – noticed that the road wheel rubbed against the bolt head.

Having not touched the Cent for a while, I decided it would be a good idea to prime the suspension parts before proceeding further, however got a bit carried away….
Placed bolt, washer & nut on each Road wheel & idler to ensure the bearings remain paint free – 89788-0 -
Re marked the Horstmann units before spraying – 89790-1 -  marked the hull internally too – Afterthought – should have marked hull positions & bogies with cast letters – would have added detail & would not require masking.
Masked the new markings – 89792-289794-3-  the top of the hull – 89796-4 - turret openings – 89798-589800-6-  periscopes, sights – 89802-7 – etc – 89804-889806-989808-1089810-1189812-1289814-1389816-1489818-15

Going in was concerned that the area between the road wheels would be difficult to cover  with paint – 89820-089822-1-  as well as the turret/stowage box  gap – 89824-2 - but in the event, seems to have worked out fine.
Bolted the strut mountings to the top of the Horstmann bogies – 89826-3 -  still have to add the struts – with 2 bolts, top & bottom, to attach to the swingarms
Unfortunately after finishing this I looked at my 1/25th Tamiya Cent & noticed these should be on the inside of the bogies, not the outside - need to redo....

Thought I’d take some comparison pics of my Cents – Tamiya 1/35th, Tamiya 1/25th, Ludwig 1/16th – 89828-089830-189832-2–

Comparing the 1/35th hull & 1/16th TC cupola – 89834-389836-4– 1/35th turret & 1/16th turret – 89838-589840-6
1/35 sprocket & 1/16th Sprocket – 89842-7 -  1/35th idler & 1/16th idler – 89844-8 – 1/35th road wheel (& tyre) & 1/16th road wheel – no tyre – 89846-9 –

Re the 1/25 Tamiya Cent suspension – fully operable – 89848-1089850-1189852-1289854-13–
I got the Tamiya 1/25th Cent in 1976 - with the wired remote control. That original iteration had slim line steel & brass gears, the steel gears mostly worked like slow saw blades, cutting into the brass gears. Not really a system designed to last long. The gearbox on mine definitely did not.

The original gearbox & saws – 89856-14 – the effect of running the vehicle, the brass gears cut up – 89858-15 –

Had some problems with the single return rollers – the axle is also the mounting bolt, when tightened, the roller no longer turns – a drag, in more ways than one.
So decided to replace the bearing & plastic roller with a single bearing – found one 3 X 13 X 5 (ID X OD X W) which should be close enough (roller 3 X 14 X 6) – the two side by side over a photo of the real thing – 90067-0 – the new roller in place with loose heat shrink – 90053-1 – heat shrink on double rollers – 90055-290057-3– . Had thought to make the bearing roller closer to the actual roller, by adding a brass tube collar to the bearing, before shrinking the heat shrink. Unfortunately the heat shrink pulled the collar out of place, so need to redo & photograph.

Removed the strut mountings, having noticed they were on the wrong side (outside, should be inside) of the bogey – 90059-4 – then ran into another prob – over tightened the bolt – SNAP – 90061-5 – not sure how to extract the part bolt, but added the other one – 90063-6 – added a dummy bolt head to fill the outer side hole-  upper one done, lower to do – 90065-7 -

Pics of the prob with the single roller – 90214-090216-1– placed the bearing, collar & heatshrink in a tub of hot water, however as it shrank, it pulled the rubber off the edge. Think the solution is to clamp it in place, before adding the hot water.
Also started on the skirt supports – they’re a little tricky as the top plate looks symmetrical – but isn’t, 1st attempt left an overhang one end & a gap the other end, carefully pried it apart & reglued it the other way round – 90218-2 - The end piece also fits at a peculiar angle – due to the angled hull side – 90220-3– 3 done & dry fitted – 90222-4 –
Bolted in 7 of the 8 double return rollers (previously dry fit) – 90224-590226-6-  8th one was bolted already but has come loose & resisting efforts to retighten. Middle Horstmann bogies bolted on (M2.5 X 6mm button head) – 90228-790230-890232-9– third bolt added – 90234-1090236-11– for extra security, intend to cover the hole with PLA paper.

3 of the 4 single return rollers bolted in – 90238-090240-1– the front left one still has the plastic unit, but is really hard to access due to the hull brace & glacis.
Have cut off the collars & heat shrink for now, might try to fit a larger diameter brass tube over the whole thing.
Also started on the GTL support bracket, added an extra bit of 1mm sheet between the supports – 90242-2 - & more kits parts excised, added M1 eye bolt & ally tube – 90244-390246-4– checked my ref book  - 90248-5 – specifically the GTL page – 90250-6 – with double decker star handle, the kit provides a single decker one, so, thought of a way to do this, using the 2 hole punch & 1mm sheet – 90252-7 – drilled a hole, then using the kit star as template, marked where the indents should be, then cut the indents with the dremel – 90254-8 – ending up with this – 90256-9 – pins will be replaced with bolts.
Also noticed & removed slivers of plastic between engine covers – 90258-1090260-11
A couple of my Cent ref books – 90262-1290264-1390266-14-
