Up next the turret MGs, Tamiya for whatever reason have decided to take a backward step with these 2 items.

Firstly the 50Cal. Unlike the previous Tamiya 50Cal. renditions which were/are very good and detailed being made up of several components this is a very basic two halves jobby. The barrel support is now molded on as with the cradle for the gun that connects to the pintle and the cover group is no longer moveable, being molded in one piece. The Ammunition box is now molded into it's cradle as well with an open underside.

The one and only saving grace is they finally figured out to put some rounds in the box... Go figure

Next is the 7.62 M240

All round pretty poor, half molded again pretty clunky detail no open ammunition box, and no elevation, pretty much a HL comparable...... >:( >:( >:( >:(

OK so the lid is held on to by a pair of swing arms that latch onto the turret lower, it works well and for mine is easier than the Leopard set up

First up the cover

The swing arm latch

The receiving end on the turret lower

Nice. Will be interesting to see how well the plough works - the 3D print should be tough enough, but might be a little too lightweight?

Cheers guys.

Yeah not sure yet Mal, I'll be giving it a go though.

Ok soI have a research question. I have spent countless hours searching for pics and info on where and how the power/control cable plugs in for the plough. The cable is usually run up the mid area of the glacis around the drivers hatch to somewhere behind I've been unable to find any images of the connect point nor any written info.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

I always thought it went into the drivers hatch

90151-0

i only assumed this because i saw it on some Tamiya box art many years ago.

90153-1

Awesome feedback.... 8) 8) 8) 8) that last pics is the money shot, thanks heaps.

On the box art and some models I've seen the same with the cable disappearing down the drainage groove at the centre front of the hatch but then I started finding images of tanks fording water with ploughs on and cable attached so it made me rethink that it must have and external weather proof connection, also NBC protection would be pointless/useless if your out ploughin your mines and a North Korean party rocket landed near by.

Thanks again mucho appreciated..... on with the build...... :D

Update,

Weathering is under way, only a couple more details to add plough cable etc (Thanks Mark) and this puppy is done..... :D

Think I'll be revisiting the turret MGs though the detail on them is poor to say the least..... >:(

Cheers Damo
