Tamiya Yamato 1:350
« on: January 14, 2013, 04:01:27 PM »
G'Day,

Anyone seen or built one of these goliath models at all?
One on 'sale' locally, wondering if it's worth the $500

Digit, did you say it was $500 and 1/350 scale?

I have got still in a box unbuilt a 1/350 Tamiya USS Missouri with photo etching and miniture crewmen and that was worth around $240 sent from the U.S

However I have seen a 1/200 Nichimo Yamato at Mr Toys Springwood and that was around the $500. That is a monster of about 1.3 metres long.

I had one of these kits 30 years ago and it was the motorised version, a very nice kit though.

Yep 500 pesos  :( It's Tamiya Premium line, new moldings (they have supposedly changed all the tooling that makes the Yamato in 2011). Has tons of photo etched stuff, brass props, crew, 2 reconnaissance planes, stand etc. Cheapest I've seen them on eBay is $395 + 80 odd postage. Lot of money for something non RC.

Not something I want to buy without seeing a real one out of box.

Yep I know the kit that you are talking about. This kit was released early last year, and yes it is more expensive than the standard 1/350 Yamato kit.

This kit is more detailed and it has a different hull than the previous kit. It also comes with photo etching.

Patrick has this kit and he has it up for USD$219.90 plus USD$49.00 Postage.

If you e-mail Patrick you should get it a little cheaper

Thats a bit better, thanks for that KT, I didn't realize he did more than tanks!
So basically don't buy anything but paint in Australia.
