FLAKPANZER GEPARD - Rebuild
« on: August 05, 2017, 04:18:36 PM »
Hi guys,

Well this little project has been on my ‘to-do’ list for a while now and i have finally found the motivation to get stuck into it  :D

This Gepard previously belonged to an old customer of mine that sadly passed away at the end of last year. I hope to restore it to its former glory and give it the full RC treatment (not just forward reverse - with no sound).

Here is the Geppy before i got stuck into it.

i also have a second Geppy that i may use for parts if needed (hopefully not)

….and the original internals including older gearbox.

Firstly, i decided to build a new lower hull from my parts collection.
Nothing really exciting here, just your standard Tamiya lower hull build from the reissue static Leopard/Gepard kits.

In that last pic you can see the gearbox adapter plate.
The old gearbox will not be going into this new hull. I have used a Tamiya King Tiger gearbox with the adapter plate.

I will be re-using the road wheels from the original lower hull. The rubber has degraded severely though so fresh rubber all round

Originally the tank had metal tracks - i decided to go back to the plastic tracks for now.
The included tracks in the reissue static kit are Tamiya Pershing style with extra links to suit the Leopard hull.
Also test fit the electrics to see how it all runs together.
I am using ElMod FUSION PRO for this Geppy, and the speaker is a tammy speaker.

Wow wow wow, awesome Mark looking forward to this build. The Geppy's are as rare as chicken's teeth...to have 2 awesome are you going to use the AFV gear to get all the functions going ?

Cheers
Damo

Thank you gentleman.
Damo, the AFV-Model stuff is very nice. It is a little expensive though. I will see what i can do myself first. It is nice to know the option is there if needed.

Worked on her a little today and sorted the gun elevation.
Here is the gun elevation servo mounted in place. I will endeavour to get some video of it in action this week. As i am waiting for an ESC for the turret rotation, the build has come to a halt. So i will get some video of its progress
