A little further along ...

Right - got the fan installed and runninf the correct way so that it draws air into the Sturmtiger lower hull..

Now after that little burst of practicality its time to add a little bit of detail to Helga's bottom half..

And here we are...

These are Sturmtiger bolts made by Wechoe, lovely cast metal little numbers that I purchased just before his site went under.

They are very nice indeed - they needed a bit of attention with a file before fitting but nothing that would be unexpected from castings these small.

I really enjoyed fitting them as it was quite surprising how this simple task has lifted the whole model.

Here we are with the old Matorro Sturmtiger side panel and bolts - looks like despite my best efforts, they ended up in the correct spaces.

Total of shiny Sturmtiger bolts - 36.  :D

Detailing continues ....

WELD FILLETS

I added the weld fillets that cover the front galcis plate sides to the lower hull

Just simple shards of plastic card from the scrap tin.

A bit of reworking with a dremel and some poly glue later...

MUDGUARDS

Yep - the prototype sported a full set of fenders in pristine condition.

So ...

Rear set on -

Now for the front sets ..

Font set - standard Tamiya length with cut out for the side armour block.

Matorro had this bit right - the front lead panel was longer than the standard Tiger 1 model.

So I added another bit from a scrap one I had.

There we go..

Andy

Now...The External Starter Plate Guide Plate

Go on admit it ....you have been waiting for this bit.

The plan...

Okay - here we have the standard Tamiya supplied part.

Nicely done as usual.

However referring to The Modellers Guide to the Tiger Tank I found out I had to update this part.

The Sturmtiger was Ordered in early October 1943, The prototype ready by the 20th October 1943.

That means I need the third pattern plate with two holes...

So here we go again .

Second starter plate hole and surround done...

Adjustment rod added from stretched sprue.

Slivver of aluminium meat tray ..

Added to the plate to re-create the rod fittings.

Hope I will be able to get away with this one now..

More Feifel work..

' Chains ' added to the rear air cleaner ports.

Back out in the daylight ...
