Improvised AA holder
« on: May 22, 2013, 08:06:38 PM »
Just got a bunch of AA 3000 mAh NIMH batteries for remotes and everything else. Missed Jaycar by minutes so off to Bunnings to get some 15mm PVC pipe and two end-caps.
Drilled 5mm holes in the side of both caps as low as possible and another in the centre of what will be the - cap.

Cut two pads out of brass shim with tails to go through the holes....pushed the + one through after backing it with a small piece of foam and glued it to the tube.

Wound a ballpoint pen spring through the centre hole on the other and epoxied it in just to keep pressure on the brass.  Epoxied the brass shim in one side only to allow movement.

Two Banana clips and some twin cable soldered to the tails and job done!   About twenty minutes and five bucks. Negative cap is a nice push fit.
