My M41
« on: February 02, 2018, 11:08:43 AM »
A few pics of my Heng Long M41 and a friend's  tank which I am building up. Found the information and pics on this site very interesting especially the pics from years back. I have based my tank on 30543 ("Bertie") which was based in Hastings NZ in the early 80's as part of the Wai-WEC territorials, when I was living there.

A hearty welcome to you!  Thank you for posting all those photos of your incredible M41 work!  I am humbled by your modeling skill, but you will find others here on Hobby Havoc who will be helpful.  As you probably already noticed, Mal (a.k.a. AFV Aficionado) is quite the source of information about the M41s the US sold around the world, and especially "down under."

Hi. Thanks for comments. The Bulldog is one of my favourites and the info available from Mal has been awesome to allow this build., especially as  "Bertie"  which was based at my then home town of Hastings, NZ in the '80s.  His knowledge and research is astounding and his modelling skills leave mine for dead. Cheers.

Hi Stan
Good effort, especially tackling the Simfire unit, you've inspired some action on my part re that.
You look to have the standard HL gun? Found a new 3D print version at the weekend - https://www.shapeways.com/product/JXYAX3RTS/1-16th-m41-main-gun-muzzel-brake?optionId=64652811&li=marketplace - that might be of interest?
There are other bits too - Blower Cap, Cable Reel, Tail Lights

Welcome and very nice work, you nailed the Zimmiret and the
weathering on that Tiger, the figure looks great as well.

Hi Stan
Nice. Looking at the power cable, does the red LED atop the MG pintle work?

Hi. Yes. Light is flashing led (couldnt get amber one). I cut off the front hull-mounted driving light, bogged up hole and rerouted the wiring into turret and wired it up that way. Used the rear 50cal mount to fit it, like original. Positive wire is fed down through drilled out mount, the other along turret top with other wiring.Light comes on when battery turned on and works as per original when in use. Took about two hours as there is not much room inside these turrets!!

Some more pics of my coĺlection to date including several mods to my M41 with final yellow filter for effectiveness. Yet to come are the proper cable reel and gun travel lock from US, thanks to info supplied by Mal.  Also pic of friend's M41 I am currently building up as NZAC replica. Renault is Takom 1:16 scale model only. M1A1 Abrams is also friend's which I built up and weathered for him.

Hi Mal. Yep had problems trying to upload on several occasions.  Kept saying the posting failed as there was a security risk, etc. Tried again and this what I ended up with....oversized pics upside down yet I had no problems with initial pics and havent done anything different. Any ideas to either delete or resize existing pics. I am new to this type of thing. Cheers. Stan G

Haven't had those problems myself, but looks like it's been fixed - maybe the moderators fixed it?

Hi. Thanks. No rc unit, just basic 1:16 plastic kit. Decided to build it as captured German tank, hence the dark yellow finish. Couple of pics included.  Cheers, Stan G91301-091303-191305-2

Hi Stan
Hadn't realised you were adding Simfire to both vehicles - impressed. Did your Muzzlebrakes & reels turn up? Heard from the designer today, he's going to rework the designs.

Hi Mal.
Yep. Friend saw mine and requested same but with different numbering obviously. My reels and gun lock hopefully somewhere over Pacific at moment.
Thought about the muzzle brake but wanted to wait and see what you thought. Was a bit concerned about the rifling impeding the bbs as I wanted to retain the airsoft feature, and after reading your post have decided to leave as is. May think about the rear light covers though.
Cheers. Stan G.
