About sizewWell, a soldier in scale 1:16 should be about 108 millimeter. A Verlinden 1:15 soldier is about 120 millimeter, so in terms of scale, the difference would be about 9% difference in size.

I have actually a HL Panzer 4 also, that I can measure the actual difference with, as you know the chassis from the Hummel is based on the Panzer IV.

So, I measuered the Bandai Hummel against the HL Panzer IV, which originally was the same hull.

The Bandai 1:15 was 32 cm from center af drivesprocket to center of idler wheel

The HL 1:16 was 30.2 cm from center af drivesprocket to center of idler wheel

This gives a difference in size at 5.9 % between the 1:15 and 1:16 models.

Hi Gra,

Yes it will be the HL rx-18 stuff. I am in the middle of installing it right now, and have run into a strange problem.

The Hummel has the standard Bandai motors and gears pre-installed and both runs fine, when I tested them with a small 9v battery.

After installing the rx-18, only the one motor runs. It seems that there is not power enough to run both motors on a rx-18 board.
Just for fun I tried to install a pair of loose standard HL motors to the rx-18 and both runs fine.
Could it be incompatible motors from Bandai?

Or a dead motor, did you test each motor independently?

One nagging question........
Why hasn't anyone ever scratch built an 88 mm PaK 43/1 to shove into one of these kits & converted it into a Nashorn?

forgot to post the solution to my gear wiring problem. On the Bandai Hummel with the factory installed gears, there are 2 black wires and one red. The red of cource gores to te + and both black wires have to go to -. After this, the Hummels runs like a dream.

I'd love one of these bad boys, I'd turn it into a Nashorn.

The 9th SS added anti-grenade screens to some of their Hummels & used them in the direct assault mode in lieu of Tanks & Assault Guns....yikes!

The Hummel looks great! Great job!

I like the shells loaded and especially the camo netting hanging over the sides, gives me an idea what to do with my PzKpfw IV and StuG IV...

One question though, why does the Hummel have kill markings? Did they have armour piercing ammo for self-defence?

well, thats a really good question. The kill rings was part of the model kit, and I thought that would look cool  - Anyway, I will try to dig into my books and see if I can find anything on this topic
